“Vietnam can become a leader among ASEAN countries promoting international labor standards.” That is the comment of the Director of the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Vietnam at the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs on cooperation in promoting international labor standards in Vietnam during the period 2021 – 2030. International labor standards are legal documents developed and adopted by governments, employers and workers. These standards can exist in the form of Conventions, which means that they are legally binding upon ratification. The more Conventions a country ratifies, the better working conditions and more productive its workers will be, and the more equitable the benefits of development and prosperity will be.
