Are employees really fully aware of their rights and responsibilities?

During our time working with factory employees in the localities, we saw that some of employees still do not fully understand their rights, interests and responsibilities during their employment. Therefore, when experiencing related problems, they have difficulty in protecting their legitimate rights and interests; or have violations because they do not understand their responsibilities.

Stemming from this issue, in the past years, CDI has organized a series of training sessions, sharing knowledge of labor law through both face-to-face and online forms for many employees from a number of provinces across the country.

This training session is designed to improve workers’ understanding of basic international standards, how they are compatible with Vietnamese law, and share about the risks of violating labor standards and their effects to the legitimate rights and interests of employees.

With the application of a training method that promotes active participation, active interaction through games, teamwork in combination with information exchange and discussion between groups and lecturers, a space has been created to help participants feel comfortable and open in discussions and sharing.

Improving community communication skills

With the goal to help the workers participating in the training improve their communication and communicating skills, CDI has connected with experienced experts in the field of communication to share useful knowledge, thus, improving participants’ interpersonal skills.

Through the guidance and support of the lecturer, the participants learned how to communicate effectively, creatively and attract a large number of interested people. Practice results have shown that the groups have been extremely creative when building attractive and interesting media products through forms such as acting, livestreaming.

Practice self-assessment of working conditions through the WE CHECK application

In this training session, CDI brought an upgraded version of the WE CHECK application. The application is a tool to help employees self-assess their working conditions and occupational health, from which employees will know if their workplace meets basic labor standards and at the same time detect occupational disease-related hazards and get advice from medical professionals. In addition, the WE CHECK application is also a place to receive and answer employees’ problems. With the new version, participants are extremely excited because the new WE CHECK application offers an impressive experience, simple interface, easy to use, easy to understand information and especially has many useful features for workers.

Participants were taught how to use the application fully and effectively, as well as receive support from CDI in case of difficulties. CDI and local worker groups have come together to plan to introduce the WE CHECK application to a large number of workers in 2023.
