WORKSHOP: THE RESULTS OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF GENDER IMPACT THE ASSESSMENT SUPERVISION IN THE MINERAL SECTOR IN QUANG TRI PROVINCE

On June 30th, the Center for Development and Integration (CDI) coordinated with the Women’s Union of Quang Tri province to organize a workshop to share the results of the initiative’s implementation on monitoring and assessing gender impact in the gender mining sector in the province.

The workshop was realized after two months of launching the activity “Identifying gender impacts of mining projects in Quang Tri province” in eight communes in four districts of Quang Tri province, including Gio My, Trung Giang (Gio district) Linh), Vinh Thai, Vinh Tu (Vinh Linh district), Hai Son, Hai Lam, Hai Thuong (Hai Lang district), Trieu Thuong (Trieu Phong district).  It is an opportunity for stakeholders to share and listen to each other’s opinions related to the results of the initiative’s implementation.

More than 60 delegates, representing Provincial Women’s Union leaders, attended the reunion. Several relevant provincial departments and districts of Hai Lang, Trieu Phong, Gio Linh, Vinh Linh, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Mining enterprises, representatives of leaders, and people of community groups in eight communes implemented the initiative.

At the workshop, representatives of community groups said that the project provided them with knowledge about mining and issues related to gender impact assessment and identification in mining projects, from which skills are basic to continue to participate in monitoring and assessing the impact of mining activities in the locality. Representatives of functional agencies such as the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Department of Agriculture, and the District People’s Committee actively gave opinions at the workshop to inform the people.
